How to book a three-star restaurant
Tables at three-star restaurants are scarce, and the best ones are gone within minutes of release. A few habits make it much easier:
- Know the release date. Most three-star restaurants open bookings on a fixed schedule, often on the first day of the month for the month or two ahead, or a set number of days in advance. The restaurant’s own website says when; set a reminder and book the moment the calendar opens.
- Use the official channel. Book through the restaurant’s website or the platform it links to, such as Tock, Resy, OpenTable or SevenRooms. Resold reservations are often against the restaurant’s terms and can be cancelled.
- Join the waitlist. Cancellations happen, especially a day or two before. Many restaurants run a waitlist through their booking platform and offer freed-up tables in order.
