Are There Michelin Star Restaurants in Phoenix?

Updated October 9, 2026 · Star counts and prices checked October 2026

No. There are no Michelin star restaurants in Phoenix, or anywhere in Arizona, even though there is now a MICHELIN Guide in Arizona. Its first Southwest guide, revealed on August 26, 2026, gave Arizona 7 Bib Gourmands and 12 recommended restaurants, but no stars. The nearest starred restaurants are in Las Vegas.

So Phoenix is in an unusual position: it has a MICHELIN Guide, and its inspectors have eaten their way around the Valley, but none of its restaurants made the step up to a star in the first edition. Here is what the guide chose in Phoenix and Scottsdale, how Arizona’s best restaurants are rated otherwise, and where the nearest stars are, with their prices.

Does Phoenix have a MICHELIN Guide?

Yes, since 2026. In December 2025 Michelin announced a Southwest guide covering Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah, and its first selection was revealed on August 26, 2026, at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Across the four states it listed 64 restaurants: 5 with Michelin stars, 18 Bib Gourmands and 41 recommended.

All five stars went outside Arizona: four in Las Vegas, led by the two-star Restaurant de Joël Robuchon, and one at Monte in South Salt Lake, Utah. New Mexico, too, has no star. Michelin doesn’t explain why a restaurant misses out, but first editions are often cautious, and inspectors keep visiting through the year: the next Southwest selection is the first chance for a Phoenix restaurant to win a star.

Phoenix’s Bib Gourmand restaurants

A Bib Gourmand is Michelin’s award for good cooking at a moderate price, and Arizona won more of them than any other state in the region. Six of the seven are in Phoenix:

The seventh is FnB in Scottsdale, whose chef Charleen Badman also received the guide’s Mindful Voices Award. The 12 recommended restaurants include Hush Public House, RESERVE and Shinbay in Scottsdale, and Atria in Flagstaff. Two more people took special awards: René Andrade of Bacanora and Huarachis Taqueria (Young Chef) and John Germain of RESERVE (Sommelier).

Are there Michelin star restaurants in Scottsdale?

No. Scottsdale has one Bib Gourmand, FnB, and three recommended restaurants, but no stars. The same is true of Tucson, Sedona and the rest of the state: there are no Michelin star restaurants in Arizona yet.

Where is the nearest Michelin star restaurant to Phoenix?

Las Vegas, about 255 miles (410 km) away: a five-hour drive or an hour’s flight. It has 4 starred restaurants (3 one-star and 1 two-star), all on the Strip. The two-star Restaurant de Joël Robuchon, at the MGM Grand, has a tasting menu of US$525, and the cheapest starred dinner menu in the city is at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon Las Vegas, US$255. Our page for Michelin star restaurants in Las Vegas lists them all, with lunch and wine pairing prices.

Southern California is the other nearby option, about five and a half hours’ drive west: San Diego has 3 starred restaurants and Los Angeles 25. Wherever you are in Arizona, Near me shows every starred restaurant within the distance you choose, nearest first.

When could Phoenix get its first Michelin star?

At the next MICHELIN Guide Southwest ceremony, most likely in the summer of 2027, though Michelin hasn’t announced the date yet. The guide is revised every year, so any of the restaurants above, or one the inspectors haven’t listed yet, could be promoted. We’ll add every starred restaurant in Arizona to The Starred Bill, with its prices, as soon as one is named. Our calendar of MICHELIN Guide ceremonies shows when each guide reveals its stars.
